Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated and dynamic team. Working at a leading neurorehabilitation service, you will provide strategic leadership and deliver high-quality care to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI). This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by improving communication, social interaction, and swallowing abilities for those in need.

About the Service:

This specialist facility supports individuals with a range of cognitive, physical, and emotional symptoms following severe brain injuries. The service emphasizes a neurobehavioral approach, focusing on enabling individuals to regain independence and participate in daily life with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Practice:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of communication and swallowing difficulties using advanced diagnostic tools.
Develop and implement tailored rehabilitation plans to meet individual needs.
Deliver evidence-based therapy interventions for social and cognitive communication disorders.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of therapy, adapting plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.

Collaboration and Training:

Work closely with families, social networks, and multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
Deliver training programs and workshops for staff to enhance their understanding of communication and swallowing needs.
Actively participate in team meetings to contribute to the development of therapeutic strategies and care pathways.
Leadership and Development:

Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to junior Speech and Language Therapists.
Support service development by contributing to audits, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative projects.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and advancements in speech and language therapy for neurological conditions.

Requirements:

Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
Achieved dysphagia competencies.
Extensive experience working with ABI patients, focusing on social and cognitive communication interventions.
Proven ability to manage complex cases with excellent clinical reasoning skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver impactful training to diverse audiences.
